The Xplova G5 Bike Navigator—A New Cycling Experience Friedrichshafen, GERMANY (September 02, 2009)

Xplova Inc., a company dedicated to providing premium GPS companions, is set to launch the Xplova G5 Bike Navigator in Germany in September 2009.

The Xplova G5 is Xplova’s first GPS companion featuring GPS navigation, bike computer functions, and cycling data management. The Xplova G5 is for cyclists looking to navigate with hybrid maps, track and record cycling data, and monitor body conditions. The idea of combining GPS technology with the functions of a bike computer allows cyclists to embrace outdoor life with a new thinking, new attitude and create a new experience.

The Xplova G5 comes with a built-in routable 2D/3D topographical map, street map, and raster map. It is equipped with a full color, 3.5”, sunlight-readable touch screen display. For attentiveness the battery lasts up to 10 hours and the IPX7&IPX4 waterproof and shock-resistant design provides the ultimate in durability.

X-Navi™ technology from Xplova Inc., includes a GPS receiver that boasts the lowest power consumption in the industry, excellent acquisition, and tracking sensitivity up to 159dBm. Not only does X-Navi™ technology aid cyclists in planning their journey from city to city and across borders without loading a new map, it allows for terrain altitude, contour line, and elevation profile previews. The Xplova G5 arrives preloaded with 800,000 Kompass POIs and 40,000 kilometers of ADFC bike trails.

Tracking and recording cycling data has never been easier with the Xplova G5. Users can view cycling data in real-time, review and analyze training history, and mark different riding paths with the lap function. With optional wireless Ant+Sport sensors, it is feasible to monitor performance and set warnings of speed, heart rate, and cadence. Personal training programs can be customized by time, distance, or calories.

Sharing experiences and managing data are simple with the Xplova G5. Cyclists can upload POIs and append map sources using the X-Navi™ Manager. X-Tracks™, the PC tool, allows users to import tracks and cycling data, analyze performance, and view tracks on Google™ Maps. The Xplova G5 comes bundled with Tour Explore Lite for track planning and topo/raster map management.

In a statement regarding the company’s mission, Xplova’s founder and CEO was quoted as saying, “No one has really focused on the needs of the biker. Until now.”

The Xplova G5 is distributed by CicloSport in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In Germany, the Xplova G5 can be purchased via more than 1.400 shops in different channels like Bike shops, Sport shops and Outdoor shops. The Xplova G5 will be available from September 2009 at a MSRP of Standard Version G5€499; G5 HR€549; and G5 HR+€599.
